Bridgetown, Barbados June 24, 2021– CDEMA has officially deployed five Detailed Damage Sectoral Assessment (DDSA) teams to Guyana on June 23, 2021 to report on sectors affected by escalated flooding. The Civil Defence Commission (CDC) called on CDEMA to prepare a damage and loss estimate report which will be compiled after teams assess the key Regions 2 (Pomeroon-Supenaam), 5 (Mahaica-Berbice), 6 (East Berbice-Corentyne), 7 (Cuyumi-Mazaruni) and 10 (Upper Demerara-Upper Berbice).

Bridgetown, Barbados June 24, 2021– CDEMA recently met with its Participating States to present and discuss the updated Model National Recovery Framework (MNRF) under the UNDP Enabling Gender Responsive Recovery, Climate and Environment in the Caribbean (EnGenDer Project). The framework focuses on gender responsive recovery before a disaster and was well received by representatives from 15 of CDEMA’s 19 Participating States.

Barbados, June 18, 2021 (CDEMA) – The Chairman of the Council of the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA), the Honorable Vincent Byron Jr, Attorney General and Minister of Justice and Legal Affairs, St Kitts-Nevis, is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms. Elizabeth Riley as Executive Director of the Agency with effect from July 1, 2021.
