COVID-19 Regional Surveillance Update for 16th June - The George Alleyne Chronic Disease Research Centre, U.W.I.
In the week to Thursday July 16, 2020 among the 20 CARICOM members and associate members, there have been 697 new confirmed cases (compared to 692 last week, and 902 two weeks ago) and 25 new confirmed deaths (compared to 23 last week, and 20 two weeks ago). Most of these new cases were identified in Haiti (416).The remaining 281 cases were reported in 13 countries: Antigua and Barbuda (1 case); The Bahamas (13 cases); Barbados (6 cases); Belize (9 cases); Bermuda (1 case); Cayman Islands (2 cases); Guyana (28 cases); Jamaica (12 cases); Montserrat (1 case); St. Kitts and Nevis (1 case); St. Vincent and the Grenadines (6 cases); Suriname (184 cases); Turks and Caicos Islands (17 cases).
In the past 24 hours there have been 129 new confirmed cases and 3 new confirmed deaths. With 6902 confirmed cases, 416 of these in the past week, Haiti remains the outbreak hotspot among the CARICOM members. The continuing outbreak in neighbouring Dominican Republic (47,671 cases, 8083 in the past week, 929 deaths) compounds the situation in Haiti.

COVID-19 Regional Surveillance Update for 18th June - The George Alleyne Chronic Disease Research Centre, U.W.I.
- In the week to Thu June 18th, among the 20 CARICOM members and associate members, there have been 1,080 new confirmed cases (down from 1,269 last week, and 1,449 two weeks ago) and 28 new confirmed deaths (up from 10 new deaths last week, and 17 new deaths 2 weeks ago). Most of these new cases were identified in Haiti (892). The remaining 188 cases were reported in Suriname (124), Jamaica (21), Guyana (15), Cayman Islands (13), Trinidad and Tobago (6), Bermuda (3), Belize (2), St Vincent and the Grenadines (2) and with single cases reported in The Bahamas and Barbados. In the past 24 hours there have been 172 new confirmed cases and 2 new confirmed deaths. With 4,688 confirmed cases, 892 of these in the past week, Haiti remains the outbreak hotspot among the CARICOM members. The continuing outbreak in neighbouring Dominican Republic (24,105 cases, 3,297 in the past week, 633 deaths) compounds the situation in Haiti. Eleven of the 20 CARICOM countries have identified new cases in the past week.

THE REGIONAL RESPONSE MECHANISM ACTIONS
The CDEMA’s Regional Coordination Centre (RCC) was activated to provide joint coordination of the regional preparedness and response planning operations.
- The RCC established communications with the Participating States under threat from TS Gonzalo to gain a
sense of their preparedness.
- The RCC commenced administrative and logistical arrangements for the possible deployment of teams.
- Meeting of the Caribbean Development Partners Group (CDPG) were convened and partners received a briefing from the Caribbean Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (CIMH), CDEMA, CARICOM Institutions present, and the UN Regional Partners.
- CDEMA refined the regional deployment protocols for a multi-hazard scenario

Most of these new cases were identified in Haiti (611).The remaining 291 cases were reported in 8 countries: Antigua and Barbuda (1 case); Belize (5 cases); Cayman Islands (5 cases); Guyana (39 cases); Jamaica (29 cases); Suriname (178
cases); Trinidad and Tobago (7 cases); Turks and Caicos Islands (27 cases) In the past 24 hours there have been 93 new confirmed cases and 3 new confirmed deaths. With 6040 confirmed cases, 611 of these in the past week, Haiti remains the outbreak hotspot among the CARICOM members. The continuing outbreak in neighbouring Dominican Republic (33387 cases, 4756 in the past week, 754 deaths) compounds the situation in Haiti. In response to the new cluster of cases on Providenciales, Turks and Caicos has re-imposed localised restrictions.

Most of these new cases were identified in Haiti (741). The remaining 234 cases were reported in Suriname (96), Jamaica (52), Antigua and Barbuda (39), Guyana (38), Cayman Islands (3), Bermuda (2), Belize (1), and Turks and Caicos Islands (3). In the past 24 hours there have been 195 new confirmed cases and 4 new confirmed deaths. With 5429 confirmed cases, 741 of these in the past week, Haiti remains the outbreak hotspot among the CARICOM members. The continuing outbreak in neighbouring Dominican Republic (28,631 cases, 4,526 in the past week, 691 deaths) compounds the situation in Haiti. Nine (9) of the 20 CARICOM countries have identified new cases in the past week.

Among the 20 CARICOM Member States and Associate Members, there have been 1,449 new confirmed cases Most of these new cases were identified in Haiti (1,320). The remaining 129 cases were reported in Suriname (62), Jamaica (21), Cayman Islands (16), Guyana (14), St Vincent and the Grenadines (8), Bahamas (2), Bermuda (2), Dominica (2), and with single cases reported in Antigua and Barbuda and Trinidad and Tobago.
- In the past 24 hours there have been 159 new confirmed cases and 2 new confirmed deaths.
- With 2,640 confirmed cases, 1,320 of these in the past week, Haiti remains the outbreak hotspot among the CARICOM members.
- The continuing outbreak in neighbouring Dominican Republic (18,040 cases, 2,317 in the past week, 516 deaths) compounds the
situation in Haiti. Eleven (11) of the twenty (20) CARICOM countries have identified cases in the past week, with Suriname reporting
a significant outbreak in the past 72 hours.
