Bridgetown, Barbados, June 25, 2012 (CDEMA/ODPEM) – Jamaica, the incoming Chair of the CDEMA Council of Ministers, will host the 3rd Meeting of the Council which convenes on Friday, June 29 at the Courtleigh Hotel, Kingston, Jamaica. The Honorable Noel Arscott, Member of Parliament and Minister of Local Government and Community Development, Jamaica’s representative to the Council, will be the new Chairman.

Bridgetown, Barbados, June 4, 2012 (CDEMA) - The member states of the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA) now have a model flood risk reduction system which can contribute to protecting the lives and property of people at the community level. The system has been developed under the Caribbean Disaster Management Project Phase 2 (CADM2).

Bridgetown, Barbados, May 29, 2012, (CDEMA) - Two Caribbean climate experts, Dr. David Farrell of the Caribbean Institute of Meteorology and Dr. Lorna Inniss of the Barbados Coastal Zone Management Unit, are currently on the central Pacific island of Kiribati (pronounced Kiribas) to study the climate challenges facing atoll countries and some of the solutions that are being adopted in Kiribati. Drs.  Farrell and Inniss will spend a week visiting several locations in Kiribati as part of the project “South-South Cooperation between Pacific and Caribbean Small Islands Developing States (SIDS) on Climate Change Adaptation and Disaster Risk Management.”
