Kingstown, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, June 2nd, 2014 (NEMO) - The National Emergency Management Organisation (NEMO) in collaboration with UNDP Barbados and the OECS and the European Commission Humanitarian Aid and Civil Protection (DIPECHO) will host a national workshop of the Community Alerts Project, 4th – 5th June, 2014.
NEMO, UNDP Barbados and the OECS are implementing a Community Alerts Project through funding from DIPECHO, to enhance community resilience and demonstrate a coherent approach to emergency alerting. The project will be implemented in the communities of Kingstown, Owia and Union Island in St. Vincent and the Grenadines and communities in Grenada and Dominica.
The Objectives of the project include:
- Improve awareness to natural hazards and the associated preparation and response protocols in pilot communities;
- Demonstrate the Common Alerting Protocol (CAP) as a process to improve community alerting with a view to wider application within the pilot countries and other Caribbean states.
The workshop will take place at NEMO’S Conference Room, Old Montrose, and will begin at 9:00am each day.
