Farmers have suffered severe losses in the wake of the return of floodwaters in the Mahaica Creek area.
Although the water has begun to recede many still fear that the worst is yet to come as it conjures memories of the massive flooding that hit many areas in January.
Georgetown , Guyana (GINA), January 4, 2006 - The National Flood Prevention and Control Committee (NFPCC) which was reconvened by President Bharrat Jagdeo on December 3, 2005, has been actively engaged in implementation of various measures following widespread flooding, resulting from heavy rainfall over the past few weeks.
