Georgetown, Guyana , Ocotber 15th, 2013 (CDC) - The Civil Defence Commission (CDC) in collaboration with the United Nations Children Fund (UNICEF), the National Commission on Disability (NCD), Habitat for Humanity Guyana and the Civil Defence Commission Volunteer Corps (CDC VC), conducted a community registration drive for persons living with disability in Klien Pouderoyen, West Bank Demerara, Region #3 on Sunday October 13, 2013.
Forty (41) volunteers and CDC staff participated in this event which resulted in one hundred and fifteen (115) persons being registered. The information collected will be used to augment the present data base of persons living with disability being compiled by the National Commission on Disability.
This community registration drive was the penultimate activity in the observance of International Day for Disaster Reduction 2013 which was done under the theme “Living with Disability and Disasters.” The final activity will be the judging of the winners of the In-school Art and Essay Competition which is schedule for Friday November 22, 2013.
