St. George's, Grenada, November 24, 2014, (NaDMA) - The National Disaster Management Agency (NaDMA), handed over $5,000.00 worth of equipment to the J.W. Fletcher Catholic Secondary School, on Monday, November 24th, 2014. The equipment will be used for the installation of an Emergency Warning System at the school. J.W. Fletcher Catholic Secondary School participated in the CDM Youth Champion Competition for the first time in 2014, and emerged the winner. The first prize included $5,000.00 for the winning school which the institution should use to implement a Disaster Risk Reduction project.
The Emergency Warning System will be used at the school to ensure that staff and students are adequately warned in the event of an emergency. The system will also be used as an intercom for the enhancement of the everyday functions at the school.
Funding for the Emergency Warning System was provided through the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA).
