On behalf of the Council of Ministers, Participating States and Coordinating Unit of the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency, I wish to express sincerest sympathy and condolences to those families who have lost loved ones as a result of Hurricane Dorian’s Impact. We also wish to express our empathy with the entire nation of the Bahamas and more in particular the people, residents and operators of businesses on the family islands of Abaco and Grand Bahama who have been displaced as a result of this recent catastrophe.
We understand only too well the severity of disasters such as these. Two years ago in October 2017, CDEMA was called upon to provide response support to the catastrophic events of Hurricanes Irma and Maria when Barbuda, The British Virgin Islands, Turks and Caicos Islands and Dominica, members of the CDEMA family, were significantly impacted. That experience has taught us that tragedies such as these are moments of common humanity and that much can be achieved when we work together in support of a common goal.
In this time of unprecedented challenges, we express support and solidarity with the people and government of The Commonwealth of Bahamas as they seek to recover and rebuild their lives and businesses. You remain in our thoughts and prayers. Be assured that we are in your corner.
