SUTUATION OVERVIEW
Tropical storm conditions are expected in portions of the Cayman Islands tonight Life threatening heavy rains, flash flooding and mudslides are expected across Jamaica, the Cayman Islands, and western Cuba, including the Isle of Youth.
On the forecast track, the center of Ida will pass near or over the Cayman Islands during the next few hours, the Isle of Youth and western Cuba Friday, and over the southeastern and central Gulf of Mexico Friday night and Saturday The system is forecast to approach the U S northern Gulf coast on Sunday.

Heavy rainfall could lead to flash and urban flooding over the Virgin Islands.
Across Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic and Haiti, heavy rainfall may lead to flash, urban and small stream flooding, along with the potential for mudslides.
Tropical storm conditions are possible over portions of Hispaniola Monday and Monday night.

According to the National Hurricane Center ( at 2 00 pm ( tropical storm conditions are expected in portions of the Leeward Islands tonight and early Sunday, and the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico on Sunday. Tropical storm conditions are possible over eastern parts of the Dominican Republic by early Monday.

According to the National Hurricane Center ( At 1100 AM AST 1500 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Fred was located near latitude 18 2 North, longitude 69 7 West Fred is moving toward the west northwest near 16 mph (26 km/h), and a general west northwestward motion with a decrease in forward speed is expected to continue for the next few days.

The alert level for the La Soufrière volcano in St Vincent and the Grenadines has been elevated to Orange because of increased activity at the site Monitoring systems, satellite imagery and visual observations have confirmed increased seismic and fumarolic activity, strong gas emissions, emergence of a satellite dome on the SE of the existing volcanic dome and changes to the crater lake An effusive eruption within the crater, with visible gas and steam, was also observed on 29 th December 2020.
