Message: Hurricane Matthew is expected to remain a powerful Category 3 or stronger hurricane as it moves through The Bahamas.

  • A Hurricane Warning is in effect for South-Eastern Bahamas which includes the Inaguas, Mayaguana, Acklins, Crooked Island, Long Cay, and Ragged Island; Central Bahamas which includes Long Island, Exuma, Rum Cay, San Salvador, and Cat Island; and NorthWestern Bahamas, including the Abacos, Andros Island, Berry Islands, Bimini, Eleuthera, Grand Bahama Island, and New Providence;

Message: Hurricane Matthew remains a powerful Category 4 hurricane moving in a north-western direction over the Caribbean Sea. Hurricane warnings have been issued for Jamaica and Haiti. A hurricane watch is in effect for Southeastern Bahamas, including the Inaguas, Mayaguana, Acklins, Crooked Island, Long Cay, Ragged Island, and the Turks and Caicos Islands. A tropical storm watch is in effect for the Dominican Republic from Barahona westward to the border with Haiti. Interests in The Bahamas, and the Turks and Caicos Islands should continue to monitor the progress of Hurricane Matthew.

Message: Tropical Storm Matthew impacted CDEMA Participating States - Barbados, Dominica, Saint Lucia and St. Vincent and the Grenadines. The ‘All Clear’ was issued for impacted States and Initial Damage Assessments and Needs Analysis (DANA) teams were deployed. No immediate needs have been identified by the impacted States at the time of this report. Given the projected path of TS Mathew there are now concerns for possible threats to Jamaica, Haiti, Turks and Caicos Islands and Bahamas.

Message: Hurricane Matthew is expected to remain a powerful Category 4 hurricane as it passes over Hispaniola and Cuba. It continues to move in a northerly direction over the NorthWestern Caribbean.

  • A Hurricane Warning is in effect for Haiti; Cuba (specifically Guantanamo, Santiago de Cuba, Holguin, Granma, and Las Tunas); North-Western Bahamas, including the Abacos, Andros Island, Berry Islands, Bimini, Eleuthera, Grand Bahama Island, and New Providence; Central Bahamas which includes Long Island, Exuma, Rum Cay, San Salvador, and Cat Island; and South-Eastern Bahamas which includes the Inaguas, Mayaguana, Acklins, Crooked Island, Long Cay, and Ragged Island.
  • A Hurricane Watch is in effect for Camaguey province in Cuba.
  • A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for the Turks and Caicos Islands and the Dominican Republic from Barahona westward to the border with Haiti.
  • The Meteorological Service of Jamaica has discontinued the Tropical Storm Warning for the island.

Message: Hurricane Matthew remains a powerful Category 4 hurricane moving in a westerly direction over the Caribbean Sea. Hurricane watches have been issued for Jamaica and the southern border of Haiti with the Dominican Republic to Le Mole St Nicholas. A hurricane watch has been issued for Haiti from east of Le Mole St Nicholas to the Northern border with the Dominican Republic. Interests in The Bahamas, and the Turks and Caicos Islands should continue to monitor the progress of Hurricane Matthew.

EVENT:
On Wednesday, August 3rd 2016, Hurricane Earl attained Category 1 status with winds of 75 mph. The initial projected path of Earl was due north of Belize City. Hurricane Earl made landfall early Thursday morning (August 4th) near Belize City as a Category 1 Hurricane with estimated maximum sustained winds of 80 mph. The track changed just before landfall, which occurred south of Belize City placing the city within the radius of maximum winds. The system took about fifteen hours to cross the country. The Hurricane affected primarily Belize City, Belize Rural, Orange Walk, Cayo, and Stann Creek districts. The National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO) declared the “ALL CLEAR” for Belize on Thursday, 4th August at 9:00 a.m. There were no reports of fatalities and no reports of injured and missing persons. In Belize City, the Police and Fire Departments supported by the Belize Defence Force conducted 274 rescues prior to the declaration of the All Clear.

Message: Hurricane Matthew is expected to remain a powerful Category 4 hurricane as it bears down on Hispaniola and Jamaica. Matthew is moving in a northerly direction over the Caribbean Sea.
