EVENT:
Flooding in villages in Regions 7 (Cuyuni/Mazaruni) and 8 (Potaro/Siparuni) as a result of heavy rainfall.
PROGNOSIS:
Region 7 has seen an increase in water on the land and several communities are inundated.
Flood waters continue to recede in all of the flood affected areas in Region 8, with the water having fully receded from the land in some of the communities.

EVENT:
Flooding in villages in Regions 7 (Cuyuni/Mazaruni) and 8 (Potaro/Siparuni) as a result of heavy rainfall.
PROGNOSIS:
The flood situation is increasing in regards to the area impacted. Flooding is now impacting communities in Region 7 as it is raining in both regions with more rain forecasted. The CDC has commenced coordinating response efforts and will be having flights into the affected communities commencing Saturday May 20th, 2017; these flights will be delivering food items, bleach, medication and clothing to the affected population.

Message: A tropical disturbance with heavy showers and thundershowers is producing severe weather conditions over the Central-Eastern Caribbean islands since Monday November 28th 2016. The islands of Barbados, Dominica and Saint Lucia have experienced some flooding while Saint Vincent and the Grenadines has experienced flooding and landslides.

EVENT:
Flooding in villages in Regions 7 (Cuyuni/Mazaruni) and 8 (Potaro/Siparuni) as a result of heavy rainfall.
PROGNOSIS:
Flood waters have started to recede in most of the flood affected communities in Region 8, however the water levels remains relatively constant in Region 7.
The Guyana Hydrometeorological Service (HYDROMET) has forecasted that showers can be expected during the afternoon hours in the North Pakaraimas. As a result, both Regions 7 and 8 may experience some rainfall, including the communities currently affected by flooding.

EVENT:
Flooding in the villages of Kaibarupai, Waipa, and Chenapau.
PROGNOSIS:
The southern and southwestern sections of Region 8 (Potaro/Siparuni) experienced heavy downpours of rain over the last two weeks with the most recent being May 13 and 17, 2017. This resulted in flooding in some areas of the region, as well as, increase in the river levels. Additional rainfall, delay in response operations may exacerbate the unfolding situation in the affected communities.

Hurricane Matthew, the 5th named hurricane of the 2016 Atlantic Hurricane season, was formed near the Windward Islands on September 28, 2016. As a Tropical Storm, Matthew impacted Barbados, Dominica, Saint Lucia, and St. Vincent and the Grenadines on Wednesday September 28, 2016. As a Hurricane, Matthew impacted Jamaica on the 3rd; Haiti on the 4th and The Commonwealth of the Bahamas during 4th - 6th October, 2016.

Message: A 6.2 magnitude earthquake jolted Trinidad and Tobago and was felt in Grenada on Tuesday December 06, 2016.
Situation:
According to the University of the West Indies (UWI) Seismic Research Centre (SRC) the 6.2 magnitude earthquake occurred at 5:42PM (Local Time) at a depth of 29KM. Message: The islands of The Bahamas and Haiti suffered severe impact from the passage of Hurricane Matthew, the 5th named Hurricane of the 2016 Atlantic Hurricane season. As a result, the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA) through the Regional Response Mechanism (RRM) facilitated the coordination and deployment of regional specialized response teams to provide operational support and damage/needs assessments in the most affected areas in Haiti and The Bahamas. The Caribbean Community will also make targeted relief interventions in the affected State of Haiti.
