The National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO) hereby informs that the National Meteorological Service have issued a flood warning for the Toledo District due to flooding as a result of heavy rainfall over the last 36 to 48 hours over southern Belize. Rainfall is expected to continue through the day and tonight. It is raining over the Maya Mountains, so communities prone to flash flooding in the Stann Creek District must be on the alert. The concerns remain as localized flooding of low-lying communities and flash floods near rivers and streams especially in the south. AREAS OF CONCERN in Stann Creek are the North Stann Creek and South Stann Rivers including Kendal.

Tropical Storm Bret, the second named Storm for the 2017 Atlantic Hurricane Season formed near Trinidad on June 19, 2017. TS Bret impacted Trinidad and Tobago and Grenada during Monday night, June 19, 2017 into early Tuesday morning June 20, 2017.
THE SITUATION
According to the National Hurricane Center, Miami Florida, as at 11:00am (AST) Tuesday June 20, 2017, the center of Tropical Storm Bret was located near latitude 11.6 North, longitude 64.4 West. Bret is moving toward the west-northwest near 21 mph (33 km/h), and this motion is expected to continue through tomorrow.

The Guyana Hydrometerological Service has forecasted that partly cloudy to cloudy skies with scattered light to moderate showers can be expected throughout Guyana; some inland and interior locations can expect possible isolated thundershowers. Rainfall is expected to range between 0.0 mm and 25.0 mm (0.0 in and 1.0 in).

MESSAGE
The Office of Disaster Preparedness and Management (ODPM) in Trinidad and Tobago indicated that there is no requirement at this time for support from the Regional Response Mechanism (RRM). In this regard, the RRM is hereby stood down and the Regional Coordination Plan (RCP) has been deactivated effective 10:00am, Thursday June 22, 2017.

PROGNOSIS:
The Guyana Hydrometerological Service has forecasted that partly cloudy and sunny skies with possible brief passing showers are expected throughout Guyana today. Parts of Regions 7 to 10 may also experience afternoon cloudiness with possible isolated thundershowers. Rainfall is forecast to range between 10 mm and 35 mm over locations with thundershowers and between 0 mm and 10 mm elsewhere.

THE SITUATION
According to the National Hurricane Center, Miami Florida, as at 5:00pm (AST) Tuesday June 20, 2017, the remnants of Bret were located near latitude 12.0 North, longitude 67.3 West. The remnants are rapidly moving toward the west-northwest near 22 mph (35 km/h), and this motion will continue during the next day or so.

The Guyana Hydrometerological Service has forecasted that weak influences of the Inter Tropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) are affecting Guyana. A Tropical Wave is anticipated to affect Guyana over the next 12 to 18 hours, after which model forecast suggests that the ITCZ will become more organised, bringing periodic showers and thundershowers over the weekend.
